| How
to Apply Waterslide Transfers
I am often
asked how waterslide transfers work and how to apply them, therefore I thought
it might be useful to have a webpage dedicated to this
If the transfer
is large I would highly recommend varnishing the transfer with a suitable varnish
and give 24 hours to dry before following the steps below. The varnish will
strengthen the transfer making it easier to apply to your chosen model.
- Carefully
cut around the printed sections of the transfer
- Dip the
transfer into hot/warm water for about 30 seconds or so.
- Lightly
wet the surface that you intend to apply the transfer to
- When
the transfer is ready to apply it will easily slide off the backing paper
(without pressure), do not force the transfer as it might break.
- Place
the transfer (with backing paper) next to the area you want to apply the transfer
to
- Slide
the decal off the backing sheet and manouver into place
- Lightly
dab the area where you have applied the transfer with kitchen roll or toilet
paper
- Leave
for a couple of minutes until dry
- The transfer
is in place until you want to remove it! - to remove I would suggest some
strong sellotape (be aware though, this will distroy the transfer!
- Finally
practice before you have a go, use a peice of the transfer paper that is not
printed on, this will give you an understanding of when it is best to slide
the transfer from the sheet and how long you need to leave it to soak.
- Have
fun!
