Size Guide

As shoe sizing varies between brands and even within brands, it is important that you have your child's exact foot measurement in cm or mm rather than using the size from an existing pair.

If you have any questions or are unsure about the sizing please feel free to contact us so that we can advise you.

Shoes should be slightly longer than the foot by between 5-10mm. When a child walks their feet naturally move forward towards the front, so if the shoe is too short then one or more toes will push against the end of the shoe unnecessarily, causing discomfort at best and poor foot development at worst.

When choosing the correct size, please also bear in mind that children's feet grow by approximately 5mm every 6 months, so a shoe that is only just fitting now will soon be too short if you don't allow for wriggle / growth room.

How to measure your child's feet.

1. Have your child stand barefoot and upright on a piece of A4 paper allowing for the full spread of the foot in terms of width & length.

2. With a pen or pencil, mark the longest parts of the foot on the paper from the point of the big toe to the back of the heel (make sure you measure both feet as one foot is usually slightly bigger than the other and ensure that your child's toes aren't scrunched up).

3. Measure the distance in millimetres between the toe and heel marks on the paper to get the length. Use the length from the longest foot.

4. The distance between the Measured Foot Length (your measurement from above) and the Shoe Inner Length (as noted in the size chart below) should be between 5mm to 10mm to account for growth and wiggle room (slightly more, up to 12mm if socks are worn).

We recommend that you add approximately 5mm for children under 2½ years as any more can cause them to trip. For children over 2½ years we recommend that you add approximately 10mm (12mm if using socks) as any less can restrict movement in active children.

Children’s feet grow quickly so make sure you check their shoes every 2 months during their first year and every 3 months from 1 to 3 years.

With regards to the width fitting of the squeaky shoes, please note that these are a wider than normal fit.

For those customers familiar with UK width fittings these are most suitable for G / H widths

We find that the age groupings for these shoes are slightly optimistic. For example an 18-24 months size is more suitable for a typical 15-21 month old but of course babies / toddlers can be small or large for their age. If you do not have the opportunity to measure the childs feet, for example you are gifting the shoes, we would recommend going one size higher than the childs age range so that the child can grow in to the shoes - something they cannot do if the shoes are too small.

As these shoes are for both pre-walkers and toddlers, it may not be possible to conveniently stand the child on a piece of A4 paper. Using a ruler, measure the distance between your child's big toe and heel. This can be tricky as your little one will probably not want to stay still (Tip: try doing this whilst your child is asleep). We recommend adding upto 10mm to the measured length to account for future growth and wiggle room. You can then match the size up with the age group from the table to choose the best size to purchase:
