Frequently Asked Questions
Postage / Shipping
Q: How much is postage and what services do you use? A: Postage & packing prices vary with the destination and number of shoes purchased. In each listing, in the "Shipping Section" (halfway down the page) you can see the charges as well as the combined postage discounts for multiple purchases.
For the UK we ship using Royal Mail 1st Class or Royal Mail 2nd Class depending on the service chosen at checkout. Royal Mail aim to deliver 1st Class mail by the next working day and 2nd Class mail in 2-3 working days. A Special Delivery option is available at checkout for those wanting a guaranteed next working day delivery.
All shoes posted to Europe, European Union & Russia will be posted using the Royal Mail Airmail service. Delivery is normally 3 working days from the day after the day of posting for Western Europe and 5 working days from the day after the day of posting for Eastern Europe. A tracked service "Royal Mail International Signed-for" is available at checkout. This costs £4.95 more than the standard shipping charge.
All shoes posted to the Rest of the World will also be posted using the Royal Mail Airmail service. Delivery is normally within 5 working days from the day after the day of posting for major worldwide cities and within 7 working days from the day after the day of posting for other destinations. A tracked service "Royal Mail International Signed-for" is available at checkout. This costs £4.95 more than the standard shipping charge.
A tracked service can be very beneificial. We have found that it not only allows for a parcel to be tracked if delayed but also speeds up the delivery to a lot of countries outside of the UK. As such we recommend that you select this option for it's benefits.
Although the above timescales are the aim of the postal services used, we do find that the actual delivery time to certain countries can vary considerably. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a delivery time due to circumstances outside of our control.
All shoes are sent within the next business day of placing and paying for your order (paid orders before 4pm GMT, Monday to Friday will be posted the same business day). Bank Holidays are not classed as business days. You should be able to see from our Feedback at how pleased our customers are with the speed of dispatch.
Q: Which countries do you ship to? A: All countries. No exclusions. If you have an address we will attempt to deliver to it.
Q: My shoes haven’t arrived - what should I do? A: Your shoes are sent via Royal Mail and are insured against loss or damage in the post. They are sent to the address listed on PayPal so please ensure that this is up to date. If items are damaged then please contact us immediately and we will work with you to remedy the situation as soon as possible.
According to the Royal Mail "items sent by 1st class, 2nd class, standard parcels and Recorded Signed For are not classed as lost until 15 working days after the due date".
Please let us know if you haven’t received your shoes after this period (or before if you wish). For purchases deemed lost we offer to send out another pair to you as soon as possible (stock permitting) or a refund. We also make a claim for the lost parcel with the Postal Service (please note that as part of their investigation, the Royal Mail may contact you to verify non-receipt).
In the UK we often find that delayed parcels end up at the customers local delivery office - even when a card has not been posted through the letterbox. Please check with your local delivery office and neighbours if your parcel is delayed.
For Europe / EU our mail service classes parcels as lost after 20 working days starting from the day after dispatch. For the Rest of World parcels are classed as lost and claimable after 25 working days starting from the day after dispatch.
Payment
Q: What about paying for my shoes? A: On eBay, our preferred method of payment is through PayPal.
We also accept credit / debit card payments over the phone (eBay will not facilitate card payments on the eBay site). If you would like to pay over the phone, just give us a call on 0330 6600160 or +44 1933 316574 with your credit / debit card details to hand.
For our UK customers we are happy to accept uncrossed Postal Orders sent to our business address. Please send us a message through eBay messaging once you have posted your Postal Order so that we know to expect it.
Also for our UK customers that live near to us in East Northamptonshire we accept cash payments on collection by prior arrangement.
Please note that we do not accept payment by cheque at this time.
If paying by PayPal, please make your payment within 3 days of clicking "Buy It Now". If we do not receive any communication (payment or email) within 3 days then we will have to file an unpaid item case with eBay to null-and-void the transaction and to release our stocks and selling fees. This unpaid item case will stay with your account and will affect your ability to purchase from sellers in the future so it is in both of our interests that payment is made within 3 days.
Q: Do you offer the ability to collect in person? A: Yes. Please contact us to arrange a convenient time for collection. Payment by cash or card may be made whilst collecting if you wish.
Returns & Exchanges
Q: Do you have a size chart? A: To view our size chart with instructions on how to measure your child’s feet, please click the Size Guide. We STRONGLY recommend that you follow the instructions carefully before choosing the size as returning and exchanging shoes for a different size will incur extra postage costs to the buyer to post them back to us (we will pay to send the replacements back to our UK customers).
Q: Do you allow refunds or exchanges? A: Yes - please shop with confidence. We'll never leave you stuck with unwanted or unsuitable shoes.
We do our best to check each pair of shoes before dispatch, however if there is a problem with your shoes then please let us know within 48 hours of receiving and checking them. Where possible, a new pair will be offered and dispatched to you. Alternatively a refund will be offered.
In this instance, when a problem is reported to us within 48hrs of receipt, Kidz Shooz will be responsible for all postage costs to return the shoes to us and to re-ship the replacements to the customer.
If you would like to return your unworn shoes for another reason, e.g. they are the wrong size / change of mind, then you may return the unworn shoes within 14 days of receipt. We allow up to 14 days as sometimes shoes are bought as gifts and are not immediately tried on for size.
Please contact us first, before returning your unworn shoes. Please return the shoes in the condition you received them within the original, undamaged shoe box with delivery note and all packing. If the shoes are used, the box is damaged or items are missing it may not be possible for us to resell them, therefore leading to a refusal of an exchange or refund.
If shoes are being exchanged the customer is required to pay for the postage to send the shoes back to us. For our UK customers we will send out the replacements at our cost. Unfortunately we cannot extend this free postage to our non-UK customers and will have to charge for the postage to send out replacements.
If the shoes are to be refunded then only the price of the shoes will be refunded and not postage.
We cannot refund any returned packages that have been lost in transit on the way to us. Please keep proof of dispatch from the Post Office just in case it is needed for you to make a claim.
Please note that variations in the manufacturing process can lead to subtle differences in style and colour between the shoes represented in the listing and the shoes you receive. Also settings on customer monitors can also misrepresent the true colour shade of shoes.
If you have any doubt or other questions relating to refunds or exchanges then please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
The Shoes Q: How do I look after and clean my shoes? A: Smooth leather moccasins or rubber-soled shoes can be surface cleaned and treated with any standard leather cleaner or protective product. Suede moccasins look and feel best when left unwashed, but for those occasions where washing is necessary, they can be hand washed in cool water or in the washing machine on a delicate cycle with cold water using extremely mild soap. We recommend hand washing, using a soft brush to scrub the leather. It is best to use detergents made especially for leather that will not strip away the natural oils, or a high quality moisturising hair shampoo. Using a harsh soap will dry the suede and damage it. Do not mix in any other clothing as the dyes may bleed. Air dry. The shoes may feel a little stiff at first, but should become soft again with wear. The colours will fade with washing.
Q: What is a TPR Sole? A: TPR stands for Thermo Plastic Rubber. Thermo Plastic Rubber is one of the latest technologies used to create mould-injected soles, including polymers and high tech resins. This sole offers superior comfort to ordinary die cut soles, because it’s flexible like traditional leather soles but also washable and more durable.
Q: What is PU Leather? A: PU leather is a layer of leather with a polyurethane layer applied to the surface. PU leather is classed as a man-made material. Treating with polyurethane gives a uniform finish / shine and a long-lasting “like new” appearance. It was originally made for the shoe industry and was recently adopted by the furniture industry. The result is an artificially consistent texture that is easier to clean and maintain.
Q: How do the squeaky shoes work? A: The squeaky shoes are designed to force air through the "squeaker" in the heel of the shoe as the toddler steps down. That’s how the squeaky sound is produced and they sound very similar to the squeaky toys used for pets. This results in your child actually walking on a comfortable cushion of air and the sound encirages them to walk with a proper heel - to - toe action.
Q: Why buy squeaky shoes instead of non-squeaky shoes? A: • They encourage proper walking techniques - a heel to toe motion is needed to make the shoe squeak.
• They encourage your child to wear their shoes - children love the sound these squeaky shoes make so much, they may not want to take them off! They are also an encouragement for children with disabilities to walk.
• Physical therapists are recommending squeaky shoes for toddlers and young children to encourage proper form while walking. The squeaking sound from the shoe helps the child to know when he / she is walking correctly because the shoe will only squeak if walking heel-to-toe.
• Security for parents - they act like an audible radar system to let you know where your little one is. Perfect for shopping malls and other busy places.
• They are FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!
Q: Is it possible to disable the Squeaker? A: Love the shoes but planning a trip to a quiet place? No problem, the squeak can easily be disabled in either one or both squeaky shoes. Each pair of squeaky shoes comes supplied with a set of non-squeak valves in the box, for when silence is a must.
To swap them over, just gently pull out the valves using your finger nails or tweezers. Using your teeth to remove them is not recommended as your child may try to copy you if the process is witnessed. Once out, just insert the non-squeak valve to silence the shoes and place the squeaking valves in a suitable place out of the reach of your child.

Q: Shoes won’t Squeak - Problem with the valve? A: Have you tried to remove the valve and blow it with your mouth? Does it work? If it works in exactly the same way as your other squeaky valve – giving the same volume of sound – then please try swapping the valves between shoes before looking at the “….Problem with the shoe?” paragraph below.
If the valve doesn’t squeak when blown then it could have moisture in it – please allow it to dry in a warm environment.
Also, if the valve doesn’t squeak when blown then it could have debris inside – please wash the valve under the tap using the tap water pressure to remove any particles before drying the valve.
Finally, the valve could be faulty, squashed or misshapen. If this is the case upon delivery then we will post a replacement pair out FOC.
If you require new squeaky or non-squeaky valves due to loss or wear and tear then we can supply a pair for £1.50 (including p&p). Just send us an email and we will send you a PayPal request before posting them out to you.
Q: Shoes won’t Squeak - Problem with the shoe? A: If the valves work when blowing into them then the air cavity in the shoe could have moisture in it – in which case we recommend removing the valve and allowing the inside of the cavity to dry in a warm environment.
The air cavity in the shoe could also be blocked with debris – often the case if the shoe has been used on a loose surface such as on the beach. In this instance dislodging the particles with a small blunt implement before removing them from the aperture can solve the problem. The use of suction from a vacuum cleaner can help as well.
The air cavity in the shoe may require a small amount of reopening / repositioning. Insert a blunt implement such as a knitting needle or screwdriver into the cavity through the valve hole and carefully move from left to right. Carefully push back the internal packing to increase the air cavity size – you can gauge how much you need to push back by trying the same process with the working shoe. Try squeezing the heel of the shoe both before and after the process to see how much air is forced out of the valve aperture.

Moving a screwdriver left & right can increase the air cavity size
Finally, the best position for the squeaker valve to give the best squeak sound is for it to be protruding by a few millimetres as can be seen on the photograph below:

Valve fully in - GOOD Valve slightly protruding - BEST
Sometimes just pulling out the squeaky valve by a few millimetres can turn a non-squeaky shoe into a squeaky shoe.
Please feel free to contact us as at any time if you have any other issues with the workings of your shoes.
