Choosing a garage door opener
Apart from your budget, there are a few important considerations when choosing an automatic garage door opener:
Your door? Ensure that you can lift your garage door manually! An automatic opener won't fix a faulty door. Also bear in mind that we supply operators for ALL TYPES OF DOOR but that canopy doors will require a Bow-Arm Convertor (See examples in image if you are unsure of you door mechanism)
Power rating? Ensure the opener you choose is powerful enough to lift your door - this will ensure a long product life
Noise? If your garage adjoins a neighbour or is below a bedroom you may wish to opt for a quiet operator. Generally, belt-driven openers are quieter than chain driven
Headroom? Make sure you have enough room to install an opener. Some overhead operators require as little as 3" clearance, and roller door operators as little a 5" sideroom
Electrical supply? We are now able to offer battery powered openers - the completely mains-free solution if your garage is away from your property. Battery back-up is also available for standard operators to protect against power failure
Security? Your automatic operator will generally be the sole locking device on your garage door. If you require extra security, choose a lock release option to compliment your chosen operator |
