    Troubleshooting Guide

The following symptoms can be resolved by the following remedies:

Symptom 1 : The lamp does not light up.

Remedy:  Please check if all connections are well connected. Use multi-meter to test if polarity and the connections of the wires are being done right.

Symptom 2: Only one lamp works or flickers.

    Remedy:

    • 1) Disconnect the power source, replace with a good bulb or ballast for the one that doesn’t work to judge where the problem lies.
    • 2) You may need autolamp/DRL harness as your factory wires are too small and do not have enough power to turn on both lamps at the same time.

If the above method doesn’t work please apply power directly to the ballast without going thru the harness to see if the problem lies in the harness itself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I connect the kit it does not turn on. But when I connect it straight to the battery it turns on. Why is that?

A: Some vehicles are wired backwards, with a halogen bulb it doesn’t matter what way the power is connected, (-to+) or (+to-) because it is a filament. An HID kit is polarity sensitive, so it can only be connected one way. Simply flip the plug (a) that powers the ballast the other way and it will work. Don’t worry about hooking it up backwards because the ballast has a safety feature to protect itself.

Q: I start my car with the HID kit turned on and one or both of the lights turn off.

A: The lack of power and pulsing voltage when your starter is cranking may activate the safety circuit in the ballast and turn one or both off to protect its self.

Solution:  a: Start car with headlights turned off.
                         b: Install autolamp/DRL relay harness.

Q: Does my car require a autolamp/DRL (day time running lights) harness?

    A:
    1. If your car has headlights that turn on automatically when it gets dark then yes you may require a harness.
    2. If your DRL circuit shares with your low beam it may only output 50% - 80% power when your DRL is active and will cause your lights to flicker. That lack of power is not enough power to activate the HID ballast thus requiring a autolamp/DRL relay harness. In some vehicles you can remove the DRL relay or fuse to disable your DRL. This will stop your lights from flickering when you start your car. If you are able to disable your DRL then you will not need a autolamp/DRL harness as well.
    3. If you have a BMW that has a headlamp sensing system you will require a BMW harness.
