COSMETIC CONDITION OF A WATCH IS A VERY SUBJECTIVE THING.ONE PERSONS IDEA OF MINT IS ANOTHER PERSONS IDEA OF A RESTORED OVERPOLISHED ABOMINATION !.I AVOID THE USE OF THE WORD MINT WHEREVER POSSIBLE FOR THESE REASONS.I TRY AND STICK TO FACTS,IF A CASE IS BRASSED I SAY SO,IF A WATCH CASE HAS BEEN RECHROMED I WILL SAY SO.INEVITABLY I LIKE EVERY ONE ELSE MAY OVERLOOK SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT SEEM IMPORTANT TO ME BUT MAY BE TO SOMEONE ELSE.IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT ANYTHING ASK ME,YOU WILL ALWAYS GET A COURTEOUS REPLY NO MATTER HOW SILLY YOU MAY THINK THE QUESTION !.

THE MID RANGE NATURE OF THE MAJORITY OF THE WATCHES I SELL MEANS I TEND TO ATTRACT NEW COLLECTORS.I WELCOME THIS AND AM ALWAYS HAPPY TO OFFER HELP AND ADVICE TO NEWCOMERS.IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF MECHANICAL WATCHES.THEY DO REQUIRE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF UPKEEP,I.E SERVICING.MY WATCHES LIKE THE HUGE MAJORITY ON EBAY ARE SOLD UNSERVICED.IF I KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT A SERVICE HAS RECENTLY BEEN PERFORMED ON A WATCH I WILL STATE THAT,BUT USUALLY THE SERVICE HISTORY IS UNKNOWN.ONE THING FOR CERTAIN IS THAT THE WATCH YOU BUY WILL REQUIRE A SERVICE AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE.THIS MAY BE MONTHS OR YEARS LATER BUT IT WILL NEED TO BE DONE AT SOME TIME.THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO BE AWARE OF IN WATCH COLLECTING AND IF YOU DON'T FEEL WILLING TO COMMIT FUNDS IN THE FUTURE TO THE UPKEEP OF WATCHES THEN VINTAGE WATCHES ARE PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU.

THE SAME APPLIES TO TIMEKEEPING,PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT ATOMIC ACCURACY FROM A 100 YEAR OLD WATCH.AGAIN EVERYONES EXPECTATIONS ARE DIFFERENT,I CONSIDER ANYTHING WITHIN 5 MINUTES A DAY TO BE USUABLE,BUT I HAVE A CUSTOMER WHO OFTEN WEARS A WATCH THAT GAINS A MINUTE AN HOUR AND IS HAPPY WITH THAT !.IF I STATE IN A LISTING THAT A WATCH IS KEEPING REASONABLE TIME IT WILL BE WITHIN 5 MINUTES A DAY OR THEREABOUTS.YES YOU CAN GET MUCH MORE ACCURACY FROM A £5 WATCH FROM ARGOS AND AGAIN IF THAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU PERHAPS THE VINTAGE WATCHES ARE NOT FOR YOU.

THE AIM OF THIS IS NOT TO PUT NEW COLLECTORS OFF BUT TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE NATURE OF VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE TIMEPIECES AND ALLOW THEM TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION AS TO WHETHER ITS SOMETHING THEY WISH TO GET INVOLVED IN !

IF YOU BUY A WATCH  AND HAVE A GENUINE PROBLEM ON RECEIPT I WILL DO MY BEST TO HELP,TALK TO ME AND PROBLEMS CAN USUALLY BE SORTED OUT QUICKLY AND EASILY.

I MUST ADD A NOTE OF WARNING HERE AS I LIKE MOST OTHER SELLERS ARE SUFFERING FROM VARIOUS ATTEMPTED SCAMS AT THE MOMENT.TWICE THIS YEAR I HAVE HAD CLAIMS THAT BATTERIES IN WATCHES WERE DEAD WHEN THEY ARRIVED AND THEN CLAIMS FOR £10 BATTERY REPLACEMENTS.ONLY WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT THE WATCHES WERE FITTED WITH NEW BATTERIES BY MYSELF BEFORE POSTAGE AND I ASKED FOR RECEIPTS TO PROVE THEIR CASE DID THEY DROP THE CLAIMS.I MENTION THIS BECAUSE AS A HONEST SELLER I WILL DO MY LEVEL BEST TO HELP WITH GENUINE ISSUES,SO PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED IF I ASK QUESTIONS RELATING TO ANY PROBLEMS.ITS GENERALLY FAIRLY CLEAR WHO HAS A GENUINE PROBLEM AND WHO DOESN'T.I HAVE TO PROTECT MYSELF AND MY BUSINESS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN THE CURRENT EBAY CLIMATE.
