What is RoHS?
RoHS is the restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2008 (the “RoHS Regulations”). These Regulations implement EU Directive 2002/95 which bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

The Mod Blog is currently undertaking RoHS certification and we aim to comply with the European RoHS directive by the end of February. This means we will have procedures in place tu guarantee and certify RoHS compliance. You will see a new category on every item sold stating RoHS compliance or non-compliance. In addition, all components sold will be stamped with either a green RoHS - OK or a red NON-RoHS. This will aid in the quick identification of items you have purchased.
You will see on every product the following :
RoHS: YES - Our suppliers have certified that these products have less than the maximum values as described in the directive.
ROHS: NO - Our suppliers have certified that these products have more than the maximum allowed concentrations as described in the directive.
ROHS: EXEMPT - Our suppliers have certified that these products qualify for an exemption to the directive as specified in the Annex.
ROHS: N/A - This is when we cannot guarantee that the product either complies or fails the directive, or is non applicable. Reason can include that we do not have the confirmation by the supplier or no such need for RoHS exists.
If you need RoHS certificates, then you need to contact us and we will email the document as a .pdf file. Likewise if you wish to confirm the RoHS status of a particular product.
