To take good care of your jewellery after use, you can gently wipe it with a soft clean cloth (soaked in luke warm water and rung out). This is particularly important if the 'underside' or 'back' of the jewellery has been in contact with sweat, chlorine, perfume, alcohol, hairspray or anything containing chemicals. Swarovski crystal elements, pearls and leather cannot tolerate chemicals of any kind. Do not store your jewellery in the bathroom as the excess moisture will cause it to oxidise faster and it can soften glues and enamels.
Occasionally (we personally have never had reports of this!) the skin under the jewellery can turn black or maybe even green. There can be several reasons for this. Factors such as stress, body imbalance, medicine or alcohol consumption, perfume or pollution can cause a chemical reaction in the metal. Metal oxidises and in some cases can be transferred to the skin. In most cases, the transference stops with a change in one or more of the above factors.
We recommend that you do not sleep, shower/bathe or participate in sport while wearing jewellery. Many factors influence the durability of jewellery. These include: sweat, perfume, hairspray, consumption of alcohol or medicine, body balance, stress and pollution. These factors can provoke a reaction in the metal causing it to oxidise earlier than it ordinarily would. All gold and silver oxidise eventually. Because all the costume jewellery is plated with pure silver or gold, it will become darker on the surface.
ALWAYS remove your jewellery before washing. For example when washing your hands always remove your rings - you would be amazed at the damage this can do. Water can soften the glue, especially warm/hot water, which does weaken stone settings etc. Please use your common sense and apply accordingly.
PLEASE treat your jewellery with respect - all the jewellery we sell is excellent quality but the majority of it is costume jewellery and it won't tolerate sustained abuse. It is intended to be worn just now-and-again rather than for daily sustained use.
Take good care of your jewellery. Do not expose to moisture and scratching. Sweating, shaking and pulling is harmful, and may shorten the lifespan and beauty of your jewellery.
We sell vintage (older series but brand new stock) PILGRIM and we only cover for manufacturing faults. 'Wear-and-tear' is not considered to be a manufacturing fault. The better you look after your jewellery the longer it will last.
Sometimes crystals can become loose after wearing your jewellery, the causes are varied and indicated above. Loss of crystals is considered to be 'wear-and-tear' and is thus not a manufacturing fault. We can however repair your items for loose/lost stones. We charge a small fee for the crystals and then a shipping fee we don't charge any labour costs. Email us for this service. We can also carry out other repairs, again please ask for details.
