HOW TO STENCIL SNOWFLAKES ON WINDOWS
Have you ever wondered how shops and stores accomplish those wonderful snow scenes on their windows at Christmas time?
Painting on windows is ever so easy with stencils and acrylic craft paints.
The results are wonderful and clean up is easy with this simple method.
Basic acrylic craft paints can be found at any craft or art supply store. Be sure NOT to use paints that are intended to be permanent on glass as they are almost impossible to remove after the holidays.
You will need...
Acrylic paint - white
Snowflake stencils
Stencil brush - small or medium size
Paper plate - for pallet
Window cleaner - windex works well
Paper towels
The trick to stenciling on windows is to stencil two or three very light coats of white paint. Less is really more in this instance.
Load your stencil brush lightly. Remove excess paint with a paper towel or by pouncing the brush on a clean area of your paper plate to remove most of the wet paint.
Holding you stencil in place tightly against the window, use a straight vertical motion to stencil a light coat of paint on stencil. This light coat will dry quickly. Stencil a second and third coat of paint as needed,
allowing paint to dry between stenciling.
When paint is dry, remove stencil.
To remove snowflakes after the holidays, simply spray with window cleaner to moisten stenciled snowflakes. We recommend Windex no
drip as this product will spray a foam that stays in place without dripping. This will soften the paint and allow for easy scraping.
When the paint has softened, use a straight edge razor blade (for adult use only) or an old credit card to scrape paint from window.
After scraping paint, clean window as usual with window cleaner and paper towels.
These instructions apply to decorating your windows with many stencil designs for all occasions! Happy Stenciling!
