Frequently Asked Questions

Is the paint completely safe?

Yes, the paints are completely safe. They are water-based acrylics that are non-toxic, non-radioactive and odourless. They are ideal for using in children’s rooms. A Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet can be provided on request. This will be required if working in many commercial environments.

Do you have to paint the ceiling black first?

A very common question. No you don’t have to paint the ceiling black before you create a Cosmic Ceiling. In fact it would be the worst thing you could do. The ideal surface to work on is a white/near white coloured surface.

Can you create a Cosmic Ceiling on Artex?

Yes. A Cosmic Ceiling can be created on most surfaces – paper, plaster, artex etc. It doesn’t matter either if the ceiling is textured. In fact this can be an advantage.

How long does a Cosmic Ceiling last for?

If left untouched a Cosmic Ceiling would still be there in 20 years time. I give a 15 year guarantee on my ceilings.

For how long will a Cosmic Ceiling glow?

The quality of the paints is second to none. They are now so technologically advanced that they will glow for up to 14 hours.

Is the effect visible during the daytime?

This is one of the amazing unique aspects of a Cosmic Ceiling. Your customers will walk into the room after youÂ’ve completed your job, look upwards and think that you’ve spent the last 3 hours or so having a snooze! A Cosmic Ceiling is virtually invisible. Unless you knew it was there you wouldn’t have an inclining about the fantastic effect that awaits once you turn the light off.

How long does it take to create a Cosmic Ceiling?

You will obviously be slower at the start but once you’ve done a few you will be completing them in 2 to 3 hours on average.

Can you paint over a Cosmic Ceiling?

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to intentionally paint over a Cosmic Ceiling. I appreciate however that people obviously want to re-decorate every few years and if so 2/3 coats of standard emulsion paint would cover the effects.

Am I not creating competition for myself?

I have been in this business since 1995 and am extremely well established. The marketplace for this product is vast and there is more than enough business to go round. We haven’t even scratched the surface in the UK.

Could I not just buy some Glow-in-the-Dark paints myself and do it?

You are more than welcome to try. You might even have some success. You can however save yourself money and days, even weeks of struggling by taking advantage of my 12 years of knowledge and research. Only by using the same specialist equipment and materials combined with my unique, proprietary 50 page information manual will you be able to create the same effects.

Do I need to spend a lot of money on materials, equipment and advertising?

No. You could quite easily get started by spending as little as £100 and then increase your stock and equipment out of profits as you progress. You can also use the same free marketing methods that I personally used to get started. This is certainly not a business that requires you to throw a lot of money into it to be successful.

Do I need special skills or ability?

No experience or special skills are required. I certainly have no particular artistic ability. Once you have learnt the techniques they are easy to apply.

How soon will I receive my kit?

I normally aim to despatch the packages within 5/7 days of an order being placed. I always email you to keep you updated with progress.

Are there any other fees involved?

No. My kit is designed to enable you to start up your own successful Cosmic Ceilings business without any further financial constraints whatsoever. It will be your business to run exactly as you please and to keep all the financial rewards that come with it. I want you to make a success of your venture and to recoup the investment that you have made in it as soon as possible.

Will you offer any support?

Certainly. I can be contacted at any time via email or telephone. As part of the kit you will be invited to come along to my home for training. If at any stage in the future you want further training then I will offer this FREE of charge.

Can I obtain supplies of paint from you?

You can buy paints from me if you wish. I do however give you the details of all my suppliers in my manual and you can buy directly from them if you prefer.

Do you use a Projector Based System?

No I don’t. There are 2 reasons for this. The first is that I don’t believe that you can offer a true representation of a night sky by trying to project a hemispherical star-map onto a flat, rectangular ceiling. The distance that you have the projector from the ceiling will alter the spacing of the stars, you will certainly have distortions and stretching of the stars where the ceiling meets the walls and you will invariably have stars that are being projected down the walls. Secondly, I have never, ever been asked to create an exact representation of a night sky as at a certain date in all the years that I have been in the Cosmic Ceilings business. By marketing your business on the basis of providing a ceiling that depicts a night sky on a certain date you are restricting your market immensely. 99% of the ceilings that I create are for the childrenÂ’s market. They want to see Stars, the Milky Way, Shooting Stars, Gas Clouds etc. and bright varied colours.

Can I make a full-time income from creating Cosmic Ceilings?

There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to work towards making a full-time living from your Cosmic Ceilings business. It does however take time and determination to build up peoples awareness of your business and your reputation. I always advise my customers to work towards building a successful and sustainable part-time business initially.

Are the Cosmic Ceilings that you create the same as those offered elsewhere?
