Silk Memories

We have worked with the factory that makes all our silk products for many years because they consistently deliver great products.

Not only that but we chose this factory in particular because it’s a small, family owned and run business with exemplary standards of working. We have visited them many times to see our orders in production and now consider the owner and his family our friends.

Unlike other factories in China that claim different standards and qualities we have seen for ourselves how well the principals of the owners are implemented throughout the productions lines and how well the staff are treated.  As proof of this the staff turnover, which is always one of the key factors in researching production in China, is one of the lowest, not just in the region, but in all of China.

All the products you see on our website are made from silk produced in the Hangzhou region of China. About 2 hours South West of Shanghai Hangzhou is one of the most beautiful parts of China and has a wonderful even climate which makes the local Mulberry trees so special.

The silk worms fed on the Mulberry tree leaves are used to produce the silk and the whole process is safe and environmentally friendly in that no harmful chemicals, pesticides or other toxic growth enhancers are used and all the dyes used are natural dyes.

Relying on techniques hundreds of years old, the silk is harvested from the silk worm cocoons and woven into the pillowcases, bedding and underwear we sell. The silk floss inside the duvets is long strand silk which is stretched into the size of the duvet and then alternate layers of this fine material are placed inside the duvets cotton casing.

All the silk items are made by hand and this is done with great attention to detail as well as a real passion for the silk business.
