Serengeti Sunglasses and Eyewear Product Information
Lens Technology:
7 Steps of Lens Making.
Step 1: An uncut photochromic lens blank, produced by Corning®, is ground and polished.
Step 2: The lens blank is put through a Lehr furnace and hydrogen fired where the lens color, photochromic properties, and Spectral Control filters are received.
Step 3: For polarized lenses only, after the hydrogen firing process, the lens is then placed on a piece of polarizing film and clear UV400 glass and sandwiched together creating one lens.
Step 4: The lens is then chemically hardened for maximum impact resistance.
Step 5: The lens is taken and placed into a vacuum coating and an anti reflective coating is applied.
Step 6: The lens is then cut and polished to fit perfectly into a Serengeti metal or plastic frame.
Step 7:
Each lens is drop ball tested before and after assembly.
SPECTRAL CONTROL®
Serengeti's patented Spectral Control® System is a dynamic, ever-adapting "smart" lens technology that works with your eyes to provide the ultimate in comfort and clarity in any situation. Experience it and you'll discover contrast and high definition like you've never known before.
PHOTOCHROMIC
Serengeti's exclusive photochromic lenses constantly adjust to changing light conditions. Activated by the amount of ultraviolet light in the atmosphere, the lenses darken in bright sunlight and lighten in overcast conditions. And because the technology is engineered into the glass, it can never wear off or wear out. With Serengeti you're always wearing the right lens, no matter what the conditions.
OPTICAL GLASS
Made from distortion-free, precision ground and polished optical glass,
Serengeti sunglasses give you the clearest image available. Scratch resistant and chemically tempered for strength, each and every lens is drop ball tested with a steel ball to ensure maximum impact resistance. With proper care, Serengeti lenses can last a lifetime.
PREMIUM UV PROTECTION
Every day your eyes are bombarded by potentially damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun. Many sunglasses filter some UV light, but
Serengeti lenses block virtually 100% of UVA and UVB rays, exceeding all government and commercial standards. Lenses also feature an anti-reflective coating on the reverse side to block glare and back reflections.
POLARIZATION
When normal, parallel rays of light bounce off surfaces like windshields, windows, water or ice, they create random light waves. These reflected light waves produce glare that irritates your eyes. Working like microscopic Venetian blinds, the polarized filters in
Serengeti's Strata® (555NM Polarized and Drivers Polarized) lenses “organize” the light, eliminating glare and reducing eye fatigue.
555nm®
The
Serengeti 555nm lens is engineered to maximize the transmission of green and yellow in low light conditions, thus providing better contrast and image definition. This lens also features a silver flash coating that helps block glare from the sun above and water and ice below.
Sedona®
High contrast rose-colored lens enables superior image definition in all types of daylight, excelling in flat light. Preferred by skiers, golfers and enthusiasts, the Sedona lens provides enhanced contrast and clarity during the harshest light conditions.
Drivers®
Our most versatile lens,
Serengeti Drivers enhance your vision regardless of the weather conditions. Automatically adjusting to changing light, they are the ideal choice for any condition from rain or fog to bright sunlight making the Drivers lens a favorite of professional drivers, military and commercial airline pilots all over the world.
Strata®
Combining
Serengeti’s patented Spectral Control® filters and photochromic properties with the most optically correct and technically efficient polarizing film, the
Strata lenses offer the most advanced technology in a sunglass, period.
The
Strata is available in
Drivers and 555nm colored lenses.
Polarmax™
Serengeti® PolarMax™ lenses live up to the high optical standards of our glass lenses. By combining ultra-lightweight, polycarbonate lenses with superior, polarization and photochromic features we have, once again, raised the bar.
Polycarbonate lens material is one-third the weight of glass and doesn’t sacrifice our premium lens technology found in our glass lens. Available in
PolarMax™ CPG (cool photo gray) and
PolarMax™ Drivers® lens colors.
