ALL OUR SOLAR LIGHTS ARE TESTED PRIOR TO DESPATCH
Solar Lights = Trouble Shooting = BASICS
In the event that the solar light you recieve dose not light please consider these points prior to contacting us
A) Fully read the manufactures instructions
B) Has the light being switched ON, or the battery insulator (normally a small piece of paper stopping the battery making contact) been removed
C) Has the protective film been removed from the solar panel
D) Has the light been given 8 hours of sunlight to charge the battery (it is quite normal for the installed battery to be flat)
E) Remember the light will not activate in the daylight
F) In some cases where a 'sliding' On/Off switch is used it can be slightly out of line with the casing, cover the solar panel with your hand and 'flick' the switch a number of times, the led should light, if the led only flickers a bit this is a sign that the battery is flat and requires charging
Solar lights = Trouble Shooting = ADVANCED
A screw driver / tools will be required for the following checks
A) If the above has failed and there is still no light, gain access to the battery compartment and ensure the battery is aligned with the terminals, remove the battery or rotate (spin) the battery carefully. If the battery has leaked stop immediately, wash your hands and return the light to us. Somtimes the battery ends can get dirty or out of line this will hinder or stop the battery working fully
B) Replace in sunlight for 8 hours to check battery
c) The light can also be checked by replacing the battery with one that is known to be 'good', ie: from another working light, if the light works it can mean Two things ( 1 ) The original battery is flat or faulty.( 2 ) The solar charging panel is faulty, this is confirmed if the light works the first night, then duller the next or not at all
Maintenance
Follow the manufactures recomendations, some suggest that the lights are brought in durring the winter months especially in frosty conditions (remove battery if storing the lights)
Batteries should last between 18 - 24 months always change and check the battery before throwing out a non-working light following the above guide lines
Like all items that are exposed to the elements a little maintence goes a long way to improving there life span. When first installing or on replacement of a battery we advice putting a bit of vasiline / grease on and around the contact plates this aids the electrical connections will stop any 'furring' on the contact
Furring can stop a light working this is only a soft coating normally Brownish in colour it will be seen on the battery ends and also on the contacts remove the battery clean the ends with a soft nail file / wire wool and the contacts 'grease' up and replace battery (remember the light may not work straight away if you use the same battery as it will be in a 'flat' condition
Returns policy regarding solar lights
We understand that these 'tests' can take a couple of days but in most cases, they do solve the problem
All our lights carry a manufactures gaurantee and are tested prior to despatch, in the event that the above advise does not rectify the problem, then please return the light to us for testing / replacement, if the light is found to be faulty a replacement will be sent |
