How to measure

please use this guide to assist you measure for curtain make up,blinds and pelmets.

 We offer a curtain make up service. This is a professional service ,the curtains are made within our factory in the Midalands by our own experienced team of dedicated curtain makers. 

Use a metal tape as the size is true.

Pit pole/ track and/ or pelmet boards first and allow for extending past your window by 15 – 20cms if possible to the sides and above the window.

Always give track/ pole length and finished drop and not the window size for quotation.

Roman Blinds

Inside window recess (please state Recess Blinds)

A) Measure the width at three points, top, middle and bottom. Record the smallest if not the same and deduct 1cm.

B) Measure top to bottom less 1cm to clear all.

For slat blinds, roller blinds and verticals, just measure width (still checking in three places) and length without the above allowances, just state that they are recess measurements.

For the drop, the same three drops, two sides and middle

and deduct 1cm.

A) For length measure from your position you require above the window to your length past the sill or floor drop as required.

B) For width add on how much you want to extend past your window, generally 3 – 10 cms each side, or keep in line with any projected sill width.

For Curtains

For poles measure the width between the finials.

For tracks measure the width including any carry arms if corded tracks.

This is essential for the “Triple Pleat” and “Gobbet heading”, as this cannot be adjusted.

“Pencil Pleats” are the simplest and centre hook position is preferable. Please request a sample of tape, hook it onto your track, and measure to required drop from the top of the tape.

Give the width of your pelmet board, then add on any rebate sizes.

You will need to determine the drop of your pelmet by measuring from the top of your board to the drop you require.
