Microsoft® Authorised Refurbisher Programme (MAR) and SCH Trade
SCH is a recognised member of The Microsoft® Refurbisher Program. Buying a refurbished computer from us is a great choice. You get a cost-effective and reliable computer preinstalled with genuine Microsoft Windows® and other Microsoft® software. Only genuine Microsoft® Windows software provides the features and functionality you expect.
Not all PCs are refurbished using the same processes and standards. Refurbishers in the MAR program must operate using approved standards and practices. There should be adequate systems for data wiping and reporting, including conformance to Department of Defense or similar standards on all hard disks being reused. There should also be conformance with applicable local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Buying a PC from SCH trade gives you genuine Microsoft Windows® operating system software loaded on your refurbished PC. Our properly licensed refurbished machines will have both the original Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that came affixed to the PC when it was newly purchased AND a specially designed Windows® COA for refurbished PCs. You can also benefit from access to free web-based operating system support from Microsoft® including updates and downloads.
Units selected for the MAR program go through a strict quality assessment process. No units with case damage, cracks, chips or faulty screens are selected. All units will have cosmetic marks, i.e. scuffs and scratches and keyboard wear as they have typically had 2-3 years of usage. We recycle units from large corporate customers so most machines will have non-standard specifications as they are configured to order by the original customer. For this reason we don't advertise units with the part numbers. They are tested for good working order and have a 90 warranty.
If the refurbisher you buy from is not a MAR member, you should make sure you ask these questions to help you assess if the PC has been refurbished properly:
- Who does the refurbishing and what are their standards and policies?
- What process is used to make sure the hard drive data has been wiped and the hard drive is virus free?
- Where did the pre-owned PC come from and has it been upgraded with any new or used parts?
- What is their equipment disposal policy and are they environmentally responsible?
