The answer is a secret. The cost of any magical effect is in the working knowledge of the illusion or the “secret”
Example – Would you pay $15.95 for an ordinary Bicycle playing card? Probably not. But what if that same playing card slowly started to float up out of your hand, fly around and then gently come to rest back in your hand. That might be worth a hundred bucks.
Magical items are a combination of both craftsmanship and working knowledge and for this reason magicians have always obeyed the “code” Never reveal the secret. So the next time you are asking yourself this question think of all the time that went in to putting together this illusion and look at the faces of your audience, you will find that it’s worth every penny you spent.
