Simon Edward Smith 1964 to Now
Photography as been Simon's life from the age of fifteen . After leaving school , he joined the Parachute Regiment .[ His fathers wish ] after several years of service , he was medically discharged and awarded a war veterans pension .
In 1998 Simon purchased is first SLR camera , after shoooting on a 110 instamatic for 18 years . He rented is first studio at this time and secured is first real commission soon after . Photography provides essential motivation in Simon's life , as he suffers from depression and other health problems . [ He as been on constant medication for the last decade ]
Despite Simon's disabilities , he teaches photography and loves to share is knowledge , with up and coming fresh talent . When he is commissioned , the thought of some one requiring his art , motivates him to overcome is health problems and produce his unique works . For weeks after commissioned shoots , Simon sinks back into himself and his world , while is physical disabilities resume to full effect .
Photography to Simon is his lifes love , along with his 3 daughters and 2 grand daughters , and partner for the last 21 years . Simon as achieved various qualifications in photography , which he believes , add another string to his bow , how ever he also believes academic achievments in the art , do not make you a better photographer or artiste .
Simon is a keen art collector of paintings , drawings , photographs etc . He also dedicates alot of his time into running a photographic community forum and he sponsors certain reputable photographic concerns .
This shop on ebay and Simon's photographic and art interests , along with his family , are the biggest ongoing hobby and love in his life .
