Glossary of Perfume notes
Bergamot is a citrus tree that produces small pear shaped fruits that are similar to a cross between a lemon and an orange. The essential oil is extracted from the rind of these citrus fruits.
Fragrance: Warm citrus, sweet, fruity and floral.
Vetiver is a tall grass with an extensive root network. The essential oil is made through steam distillation of the cleaned, chopped and dried roots.
Fragrance: Rich earthy and damp, like the forest floor.
Patchouli is a medium sized bushy herb plant that is part of the mint family. The essential oil is made from steam distillation of the young leaves that are first dried and fermented.
Fragrance: Rich fruity and spicy then woody, green, earthy and mossy.
A rare and nearly extinct medium sized tree. The sandalwood tree is grown for a preferred 14 years before being harvested. The essential oil is made from steam distillation of the wooden chips.
Fragrance: Fresh, bright, subtle, lingering exotic and woody.
