Mineral Makeup Application Tips

Mineral foundation is best applied with a kabuki brush.  Simply sift a tiny amount of foundation into the jar lid.  TOP TIP - Apply only a teeny amount at a time. Dip in the tips of the kabuki brush bristles, tap off excess powder, invert brush and tap to allow powder to filter down bristles.  I even blow on the bristles to make sure only the tiniest amount of mineral powder is held in the bristles before application.

Apply to face in circular motions but make downward strokes over any large pores to minimise appearance  Build up to the coverage you require using only a tiny amount at each application. This is the secret of natural looking coverage.  It takes a bit of experimentation but you do get really quick with a little practice. You can mix shades easily if needed in a plastic bag to get your exact colour.

TOP TIP - Always apply a good moisturiser before using the mineral foundation but DO remember to allow it to absorb into your skin really well before applying foundation.

Yellow concealer is used to disguise dark under eye circles and darkened inner eye/nose area.  This powder is a great face brightener and makes you look more awake even if you dont have dark circles. Use dry or blended with a little moisturiser, apply gently to under eye area with a finger or small concealer brush before applying your foundation.

Green corrector is used to counteract the redness of spots, birthmarks, rosacea or for a red or flushed complexion.  Apply dry or mixed with moisturiser, allow to dry and apply foundation.  You can use a small amount of bisque concealer (light concealer) over the green corrector and before foundation if you wish.

Oil/shine control powder can be applied under or over foundation and reapplied during the day/night to control shine from oil or perspiration. Looks natural, does not give that 'cakey' look you can get with reapplying foundation to control shine. Simply apply a small amount with a kabuki.

Mineral veil finishing powder. Apply a small amount over foundation with a kabuki to give flawless sheer cover (or can be used alone).  Ideal if you want to lessen the look of large pores or other imperfections or just want your makeup to last even longer. Can be mixed with foundation to give a tinted veil for darker skin.  Takes away unwanted shine caused by oil or perspiration. Can be applied beneath foundation to make foundation last longer as well .

Bisque/concealer.  Bisque is a popular multi tasking mineral powder can be applied dry or mixed with a little moisturiser as a light concealer. For darker skin can be mixed with foundation to darken before applying.  Concealer is best used a couple of shades lighter than your foundation.

Summer Bisque is a light medium concealer shade.

Pearl veil/ Bronzer/radiance powder.  These  finishing powders add a pearlised or slightly bronzed look to your makeup.  Apply after the foundation, instead of mineral veil for special occasions or to give you a glow.  Can also be used to highlight browbones/cheekbones/shoulders/décolletage.

Blusher  is available in matte or shimmer, it should be applied sparingly as a little goes a long way.  Gradually build up layers of colour, its easier to add colour than remove it.  Apply bronzers on the cheek bone for a bronzed look or just blow to give shading and contouring to the face.

Eyeshadow  Apply with an eyeshadow applicator or cotton bud. You can use a mineral eyeshadow base cream or an eyeshadow pencil on your eyelid first to make your mineral shadow last longer.  The metallic and shimmer shades are gorgeous applied both dry or with a damp applicator and foiled over and under the eye.  They offer a depth and intensity applied in this way that is quite different to their shade when applied dry.  Many shades can be applied to clear nail varnish and applied to nails or on top of lip gloss for a completely

 co-ordinated look.

If you have sensitive skin always test first by applying any new product to a small patch of skin before using all over face. Discontinue use if redness or irritation occurs.
