2K or Two PackWhen the two component parts are mixed together a chemical reaction takes place causing the paint to harden.A draw back can be the limited 'pot life' or working time once the paint has been mixed. Typical materials are: - Two Pack Polyurethane finishes
- Two Pack Urethane finishes
- Two Pack Spray Primers and Filler Primers
- Polyester Stoppers and Spraying Fillers with a Peroxide Catalyst
- Two Pack Clear Lacquers
This 'Direct Gloss' material, can relate to solid or straight colours, lacquers and primers. The direct gloss colours and lacquers dry with a fully gloss and can be polished or 'cut' back if preferred. Mixing Ratio's depend on the material being used. 2Pack Colour and Lacquer normally is a ratio of 2:1 with the Activator. 2Pack Primer is normally mixed 4:1 with Activator.CelluloseThis is the oldest type of paint available, and we have formulations dating back to 1950's. Dating from round the 1920's, colour's have changed a bit since then, which is why colour matching older cars can be a bit tricky. Normally mixed at a ratio of 1:1 with a quality thinners, this dries to a gloss finish and should not require a Clear Lacquer over the top. Cellulose finishes may need more looking after than the 2K products, due to not being chemically hardened. You are also able to get a Clear Lacquer in this Cellulose Material Base and ClearMost modern finishes you see on today's cars use a base and clear system. Base colour means just that, the base colour you apply. These can be
- Metallic's
- Pearl's
- Solid Colours - Not Direct Gloss
These types of paints will require a lacquer over the top, as these will dry to a matt or satin finish. Added advantages are that colour coverage is very good, and the colour finish has very even tones. Also the variety of colours available are greater. Any questions please call - 01234 355990
