Can I buy a Warranty Plan on a used item?
Yes. Warranty Plans are available on most used items, as long as they are not over 5 years old. The period of coverage for warranties on used items begins 30 days after the end of the auction and lasts for 2 years.
How much does a Warranty Plan cost?
SquareTrade offers affordable prices that are similar or better than most warranties you would buy in a retail store. The price varies based on the category and end price of the auction. On average, the warranty will cost between 10-15% of the final price of the item.
Can I buy Warranty Plans for items not being sold by a SquareTrade Seal Member?
No. Currently, Warranty Plans are only available on items sold by SquareTrade Seal Members on eBay.
How do I make a claim and get my item repaired?
In the event that your item needs a repair, you should call the toll-free number listed on your Service Contract. A representative will provide you with the name of the nearest Service Center that is authorized to repair your item. The Contract Administrator has a network of over 50,000 Service Centers in the United States, so it is likely that there is a center near you.
In cases where "in-home service" is specified in your contract, a repairman can be dispatched to your home to repair the item on-site.
Can I cancel my Warranty Plan?
Yes. You may cancel your Warranty Plan at any time. You will receive a pro-rated refund for the length of the remaining contract, minus a processing fee and any service claims you have made. Please refer to your Service Contract for the full details.
Can I transfer or renew my Warranty Plan?
Yes. The SquareTrade Warranty Plan is both transferable and renewable. Contact the Contract Administrator at the toll-free number listed on your contract to do either.
What happens if I buy a Warranty Plan but I never receive the item?
If you do not receive the item, you should contact the Administrator and request a cancellation of your Warranty Plan. You are eligible to receive a full refund for your Warranty Plan, but you are responsible for informing us of the cancellation.
What is the Replacement Warranty Plan for items under $300?
Items with a purchase price of under $300 are eligible for a Replacement Warranty.
For these items, your item will be automatically replaced if it breaks - no need to wait for repairs. To make a claim, simply call the toll free number listed in your contract. You may be asked to send in the defective product as proof that your item is broken. For large items that are costly to ship, this might involve shipping only a small portion of the product (such as the end of the power cord). You will then be sent either a replacement (identical or similar model item), or a check for the original purchase price you paid for the item if a replacement is not available.
What is the Laptop Express Warranty?
This plan is available on all warranties for laptops. Simply call the toll free number in your contract. If there is no service center nearby, you will be sent free prepaid EXPRESS shipping materials for your laptop. Send it in, and your laptop will be fixed within 72 hours of receipt (depending on parts availability), and EXPRESS shipped back to you.
Does the warranty cover repairs for pre-existing problems with the item, or items that are sold "as is"?
No. The warranty does not cover any pre-existing problems that are known about prior to the purchase of the warranty, or items that are received in damaged or faulty condition.
