Our Story

Karen Millen was founded in 1981 by Kevin Stanford and Karen Millen. With a loan of just £100 they began manufacturing and selling white shirts to their friends. A party plan network followed, and in 1983 they opened their first store in Kent. The company has continued to expand, and its global presence now stretches from the UK to Europe, Russia, Asia and Australia. In March 2009 Karen Millen became part of Aurora Fashions, and in March 2011 Karen Millen was established as an independent company.

The Collections

We produce 12 collections each season covering day, work, occasion and weekend wear.
Everything is designed in-house, from the lace used in our famed eveningwear to the embossed hardware on statement bags. In-house pattern cutters complete the team, and help to perfect the flattering fit for which we're famed.

We have become aware of a number of sellers that have recently started selling counterfeit Karen Millen clothing, passing it off as genuine. By copying our products, manufacturing it at an inferior quality and using the Karen Millen logo on their labeling without our consent, these companies are eroding our brand values and undermining the trust and loyalty of our customers.

Karen Millen operates a zero tolerance approach against those who infringe our brand. Amongst other things we are a member of the eBay VeRO Programme as the owner of trademarks, design rights and copyright relating to our products.

It is illegal to manufacture, import, offer for sale, sell, advertise or distribute counterfeit or infringing Karen Millen products. These activities are expressly prohibited by EBay (see section 6.2 of eBay's user agreement) and if you undertake these activities it will result in your auctions and user accounts being cancelled. Over and above this, these activities carry both criminal and civil penalties and we work closely with the police, HM Customs, Trading Standards and our legal team to pro-actively protect our brand. We will not hesitate to instigate such activities.

Q: WHY HAS MY AUCTION BEEN TERMINATED?
A: You may have received an email directly from Karen Millen about your auction, or your auction may have been terminated through the eBay VeRO programme. If this is the case, we have requested the removal of your auction because Karen Millen and its agents have a good faith belief that the products that you were offering for sale were counterfeit, or otherwise infringe our trademarks or other intellectual property rights. Please note that the offer of genuine goods for sale in certain countries where they are not authorised to be sold by the trade mark owner also constitutes trademark infringement and may also result in the termination of your auction.

Q: HOW DID KAREN MILLEN DETERMINE THAT MY AUCTION OFFERED FOR SALE GOODS THAT WERE COUNTERFEIT OR OTHERWISE INFRINGING?
A: Due to the way in which eBay works; we can only make this determination based upon the photograph(s), title of the auction, and the description of the goods that you have provided. If your auction was terminated upon our request, we are satisfied with our determination.

Q: WHY WAS MY AUCTION TERMINATED WHEN MANY OTHER AUCTIONS OFFERING "KAREN MILLEN" ITEMS FOR SALE ARE STILL AVAILABLE?
A: We cancel many eBay auctions on a daily basis and your auction was merely one of many cancelled as part of our regular searches. It is impossible to address every auction related to our brand due to the nature of eBay; however that does not mean that because some auctions are not removed they are not also breaking the law. Q: WHY WAS I ALLOWED TO POST MY AUCTION IF IT IS ILLEGAL?
A: Whilst eBay removes thousands of sites before they are posted, it cannot conduct a comprehensive pre-screening process to prevent infringing auctions being posted. The ability to post an auction does not mean that the sale of the goods being offered for sale is legal, authorised or that it does not infringe our trademarks.

Q: CAN I USE THE WORDS "KAREN MILLEN" IN AN AUCTION EVEN IF I AM NOT SELLING KAREN MILLEN GOODS?
A: No, this is a direct violation of eBay's listing policies (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html). It is both misleading and infringing to use the trade mark "Karen Millen" in an auction tile or description because its use may attract buyers searching for genuine Karen Millen products.

Q: I BELIEVE THAT THE ITEMS THAT I AM OFFERING FOR SALE ARE GENUINE, HOW CAN I BE SURE?
A: We are not willing to disclose our verification processes as we do not want manufacturers of counterfeit goods to be aware of our unique identifiers and specifications. Q: HOW DO I GET MY AUCTION REINSTATED IF I BELIEVE THE GOODS THAT I WAS OFFERING FOR SALE ARE AUTHENTIC?
A: If you believe your auction was incorrectly reported to eBay please send an email to the address informed to you by eBay with the following information:

• your seller ID and auction number;
• the exact title and description used in your auction; and
• the pictures of the goods that were posted in the removed auction.

We may require you to provide further information in order to verify your belief. Once we have this information, if we determine that we incorrectly reported your auction, we will send an email to eBay, with a request to reinstate the auction. Please note that the reinstatement is then entirely at eBay's discretion.
