SHIPPING AND HANDLING STORE POLICY

We charge the ACTUAL COST to ship, plus HANDLING FEE for all items. The shipping and handling fee charged is NON-NEGOTIABLE.  An EXAMPLE of the actual handling feed charged for some items is shown below.  The handling fee is discounted when multiple items are purchased and shipped in the same box.

TERMS DEFINED:

ACTUAL COST:  The actual cost to ship an item from our postal zone to the customer’s postal zone as determined by the U.S. Postal Service.  It is based on the zone shipped from, the zone shipped to and the weight and size of the package when delivered inside the United States.  For International customers it is based on the weight of the package only, not the size. This also includes the cost of tracking confirmation the U.S. Postal Service charges for some packages shipped First Class within the United States.  Tracking confirmation is not offered to First Class International packages.

HANDLING FEE:  A handling fee is charged on each item shipped and helps to off-set the cost of the following:

1)     General handling of the item from the day it arrives in our inventory to the day it is shipped to its final destination.

2)     PAYPAL and EBAY listing and selling fee, which continue to go up on an annual basis.  Therefore, the handling fee charged per item also continues to go up at an equal rate.

3)     All packaging materials to include the cost of tape, tissue paper, boxes, label’s, bubble wrap, packing chips, garment bags, protective sleeves, cardboard mailers, envelopes, etc.

4)     The cost of Insurance is included for each item in the handling fee.

5)     Any special handling required for a Vintage or Antique item.

EXAMPLES of HANDLING FEES CHARGED:

Wedding Gown: Each Gown is carefully inspected for flaws, up to twelve photographs are taken, carefully stored to preserve the integrity of the gown and require special packaging. Most of our Wedding Gowns are encased in a brand new gown garment bag (sold for $14.95 each in my EBAY Store) and shipped in a new box.  The box measures 24x18x6 and wedding gowns typically weigh between 5 to 8 lbs, depending on the layers of petticoats, the materials used, etc.  HANDLING FEE Charged is $10.00 per gown. This includes shipment tracking confirmation and the cost of insurance per gown.

Postcard:  Each postcard is inserted into a protective sleeve and shipped in a cardboard mailer or backed by cardboard.  When the USPS raised their rates last year, the cost for any item backed by cardboard or shipped in a cardboard mailer increased significantly.  The weight of a postcard shipped in a cardboard mailer is right at 2 ounces. The HANDLING FEE is $.75 per up to eight postcards shipped in one cardboard mailer.  If you buy one postcard it is $.75.  If you buy eight postcards, it is $.75.  This includes shipment tracking confirmation and the cost of insurance per package.

Vintage Item:  Each vintage item (Hat, Purse, Shawl, Lingerie, Veil, etc) requires special handling to include additional research per item to determine the age, the condition, and the value.  Each item is carefully packaged when shipped, using tissue paper for wrapping and for shape retention during shipment. HANDLING FEE charged is from $1.00 to $1.50 per item.  This includes shipment confirmation and the cost of insurance per package.
