Me as a Mother - My Personal Experience
I bought a set of Reception magnetic words for our daughter’s 4th birthday in the July - primarily for her to play with when we were away on holiday in a caravan. She recognised some of the words and was enthralled when I arranged them into a sentence. "I can read it," she squealed in delight and the thrill of success fired her enthusiasm. With our help, she learnt all the unfamiliar words by including them one at a time in sentences with the words she already knew. By the time she started in reception class in the September, she had learnt all 45 words and was even making up her own sentences. She has also been copying the words and sentences using a pen and paper. Without knowing it, she had also learnt sentence construction, grammar and correct letter formation - all whilst having fun.
As a Mother, I cannot recommend these magnetic words highly enough. They have fired a love for reading and writing in my daughter that I’m sure will be of benefit to her for many years.
