Instructions to assemble counterweight parallel motion to Drawing Board August 2004

Contents

16 off ¾ x No 10 screws Part No FAS325

1 off counter weight p/m instruction leaflet Part No PK0581

1 off tubular stand instruction leaflet Part NO PK0617

Place the drawing board face downwards on a suitably protected flat surface.

Place the top rail along the top edge of the board. Ensure the centre clamp knob on top rail is tightened. Adjust the rail so as to line up roughly with the 8 off pre drilled holes ( Drawing A ) screw in 8 off screws provided.

Assemble the tubular stand using the parts supplied and instruction leaflet PK0617

Place the assembled stand on to the drawing board line up with the 8 off pre drilled holes and screw in 8 off screws provided.( note if you are right handed then the M10 knob goes on the left of the board when fixing down)

Turn board and tubular stand over, and stand upright with legs fully locked into position.

Looking down on the face of the board with the top rail at the top go to the right side. Ensure the sliding bar with bottom wheel is located into bottom bracket (Drawing B) please note sliding bars are handed with top of bottom wheel flush with top of board face. Undo one wire - place one weight into cup and hold in left hand together with the bottom wheel so that the weight is under the board and next to the bottom wheel. Wind the wire two and a half times around the top wheel (Drawing A) in a clockwise direction with the right hand, starting approximately 10mm from inside edge of wheel and returning to the weight and cover held in the left hand - screw plastic covers together to tighten. Adjust metal screw in bottom bracket (Drawing B ) to remove most of slack from wire, do not overtighten as this will result in a stiff action.

Go to left side of board and repeat the procedure except that the weight and cover will be held in the right hand and the wire will be wound in an anti-clockwise direction with the left hand.

                      Loosen the centre clamping knob.

Both weights should be almost level at the bottom of the board when the board is inclined, this allows the straightedge to be clamped to the wires with the chosen edge uppermost and level with the top of the board. When clamping the straight edge to the counter weight wires please ensure that the wire is sitting in the groove on the straight edge bracket.
