Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long before I SPY RETRO ships your item?
A: WITHIN 24 HOURS--Shipping is a top priority to me because I genuinely appreciate your business. Item ships the same day as payment is made or the following day; Shipping time is dependent upon the actual time of your payment versus the U.S. Post Office hours of service. I make diligent effort to get your item out quickly, so you have your item quic
Q: Does BatesBargains recycle packing supplies?
A: Yes. We re-use boxes and packing material whenever we can in order to help the environment and to keep shipping costs down.
Q: How does I SPY RETRO grade vinyl records?
A: I rate records honestly, conservatively and much more accurately than Goldmine's Rating System. I feel Goldmine's ratings are too vague & mislead the buyer. Example, Goldmine's rating for "good" includes scratches that interfere with play & cause surface noise...I'd rate the same record as "fair" or "poor". Most vinyl is visually graded only.
Q: Does I SPY RETRO repair its photos to make the item look better?
A: No. I do not doctor-up, paint, modify or alter my photos in my listings. I do not mislead my buyers.
Q: Packaging for vinyl records-Why is Shipping so expensive?
A: I ship all records in a new flat 200-pound corrugated box, wrapped again in 200-pound corrugated cardboard, then put in a new poly envelope. I take these extra-ordinary and above-standard measures to protect your record. BE CAUTIOUS of others with cheap shipping; cheap shipping = cheesy, wimpy shipping products.

A: VINYL LP ALBUMS = 13-inch square (about 33cm), used to cover the cardboard artwork jacket, also fits most gatefold and 2-, 3-, and some 4- sets. Comes in 2mil thickness. Sold in lots of 10's, 100's, 500's and 700's. I also have a listing for $1 + free shipping for 1 sleeve to try-before-you-buy.
Q: What size vinyl record protector sleeves does I SPY RETRO sell for single EP 7" 45rpm vinyl records?
A: SIZES: 7"x7" square (18cm)=2mil or 4mil, 7.25"x7.50" (18.5cm x19cm)=2mil/4mil, and 8"x8" square (18cm) 2mil/4mil. For unsleeved 45rpm's, 7x7 is a perfect fit. For sleeved 45rpm's, the 7.25x7.50 is for vinyls with paper sleeves, and 8x8 is a size you may want to consider. Sold in various quantities.
Q: What size INSIDE INTERIOR vinyl record protector sleeves does I SPY RETRO sell for LP ALBUMS 33s 12" records?
A: VINYL LP ALBUMS = 12-inch square (about 30.5cm), used to cover the vinyl record itself. Comes in 1mil thickness. Sold in lots of 10's, 100's, 500's and 1,000's.
Q: Are I SPY RETRO's sleeves STATIC FREE + ACID FREE + ANIMAL FAT FREE?

Q: What size VICTROLA vinyl record protector sleeves does I SPY RETRO sell for VICTROLA 10-INCH LP ALBUMS 33s records?
A: 2 sizes for VICTROLA VINYLS = 11"x12" and 10"x10". The 11"x12" (28cm by 30.5cm), used to cover the cardboard artwork jacket (also fits most gatefold and 2-, 3-, and some 4- sets) and a 10"x10" square sleeve (25.5cm) used to cover the victrola vinyl itself. Q: Can I pick up my item?
A: Seller and Buyer can work out the details. If item is to be picked up, cash payment is required.
Q: Does Merchandise Credit exclude original shipping cost?
A: Yes. If you need to return an item as agreed with Seller, you will receive Merchandise Credit towards a future purchase from I SPY RETRO. The Merchandise Credit excludes original shipping cost.
Q: Why is my USA shipping cost so high?
A: The US Postal Service significantly increased its shipping prices in May 2009. I do use more packaging than most Sellers to protect your purchase. The US Postal Service's Zone-To-Zone shipping prices have gone up (This means that the distance from your Ship To location and my location in Indianapolis Indiana affects the shipping cost).
Q: Why is my INTERNATIONAL shipping cost so high?
A: In May 2009, the U.S. Postal Service discontinued its Economy/Surface Post. It also mandated packages over 4 pounds must ship by Priority Interntional Mail. Packages under 4 pounds can ship by First Class International Mail. Cheap shipping options are now gone.
 Q: Does BatesBargains combine shipping?
A: I DO COMBINE SHIPPING. Please ask for combined shipping BEFORE you pay, so I can manually fix eBay's automatic invoice to you. I appreciate you asking to save money :-)
Q: Why is shipping so expensive?
A: Sometimes, an item and its packaging weighs more than you expect it to. Each Seller packages the same items differently; I pack with diligent care--I take extra-ordinary effort to try to ensure your item arrives undamaged, even if it adds extra weight to the package. The US Postal Service continues to raise its rates on packages.
Q: Something is wrong with my item. What do I do?
A: Please give us the opportunity to fix it for you. Please kindly don't open a Dispute in the PayPal or eBay, or leave Neutral/Negative Feedback, or Positive feedbacks with low Ratings (1, 2, 3, or 4 are low ratings). We will make every effort to make things right.
Q: How important are the 'star' Ratings in the Feedback?
A: VERY important. Ratings affect the Seller: where the Seller's item shows up in a search, how much eBay fees the Seller pays, etc. If you have a problem with your item, eBay wants you to contact your Seller before taking other steps.
Q: Other question about item details
A: Each listing is extremely detailed to save time, yours and mine. Do take a moment to read through the listing, since the answer is most likely found there.
