Heavy Metal Merchant sell of variety of Patches and
Rub On Stickers so here is some handy step by step information on how to apply
them!
IRON ON PATCHES:
How do you know if the patch you have is an iron-on?
Well, we have two types: Canvas and Iron-on:
1. Canvas Patches are traditional especially
vintage patches from the 80s and require you to be somewhat DIY savvy and sew.
2. Iron-on Patches These are the modern day patches and have a semi-shiny
back, which is the adhesive glue that melts (once heated up with an iron) and can
be applied to non-stretch fabrics using a household iron or a heat press.
We do not recommend using iron-on patches on fabrics that are elastic, or on
materials that may be damaged by the heat of an iron or heat press.
To apply Iron On Patches:
1. Set your iron to the "cotton" setting, and
let it heat up, use medium heat (250-300 degrees).
2. Make sure the surface of the fabric you're applying
the patch to is clean!
3. Before putting the patch on, place the hot iron on
the spot where the patch will go, and heat it up for about 8-10 seconds.
4. Place the patch onto the fabric. You can
protect the surface of your embroidered patch and your iron by placing a thin
material, such as a pillowcase or clean tea towel, between the iron and the
surface of the embroidered patch and press firmly for
at least 10 - 20 seconds
5. Turn the fabric over (or inside out), and iron where
the back side of the patch is for another 20 seconds
6. Let cool for one minute. If the edges come up,
repeat step 5
RUB ON STICKERS:
Rub-on transfer stickers have a similar use to
stickers, but unlike a sticker it has no obvious sticky surface and is much
thinner. They will however, stick to most smooth surfaces, such as glass.
Rub-ons come on a sheet almost like wax paper, with an additional clear sheet on
top.
To apply Rub On Stickers:
When you are ready to use the rub-ons, DON’T cut the
protective sheet.
1. Slowly peel clear liner from backing (decal peels
with it)
2. Apply sticky side to clean dry surface.
3. Rub clear liner firmly with credit card to transfer decal to
surface.
4. Slowly peel downward, remove clear sheet. Enjoy!
