ABOUT PRE-NOTCHED PEW BOWS (HANKS)
If a bow was shipped to you looks like this, it is called a pre-notched bow (many sellers don't state that). This is one of the oldest bow styles, commonly used by florists, crafters and bridal bow makers. Some manufacturers simply call them “hanks”. They can be used for wide variety of decorating applications. Each bow consists of several yards of folded ribbon. Small “V” or “U” shaped cuts are made in the center. That is where the all ribbon is then tied with florist's wire, chenille, narrow curling strings or secured by specialty staples
To transform such folded ribbon into a nicely shaped bow, loops have to be pulled one at the time, twisted and then pulled again towards you. All loops must clear a middle notch or they will slide back under neighboring loop. Don’t be discouraged if the bow does not look right after you’ve done all this. It only means that more adjustments is needed so keep twisting and pulling loops until you get your bow into a desired shape. Detailed instructions are included in the package. While we use machine to produce neat, professionally die-cut pre-notched bows, they can be also home made with few yards of ribbon and scissors. If interested, please come back to our store in few days. Instructions will be posted soon.

Don’t confuse pre-notched bows with pull bows, also sold in our store. When transformed into bows, both styles look similar, but they form in a very different way. The pull bows form in few seconds. Loops automatically arrange themselves in front of your eyes when you pull the two inner strings. Due to genius, patented construction they always form into a perfect shape. Pre-notched bows require more time and patience, but will turn equally beautiful if you carefully follow instructions. Shape is created by twisting and pulling one loop at a time with additional adjustments at the end if needed.
Most color combos sold in our store are available both in pre-notched and pull bows format.

ABOUT RIBBON MATERIALS
We use excellent quality polypropylene, manufactured by Hollywood Ribbon and Berwicks, the U.S. industry leaders for over 50 years. The most commonly used bow materials are polypropylene (thermoplastic) made in plain satin, embossed flora satin, iridescent, metallic, lacquer and holographic finish, and satin acetate (wood pulp + acetic acid). Due to solvents and manufacturing processes, both polypropylene and satin acetate are essentially thermoplastics and fall into the same category of the most popular and affordable ribbon materials.
RETAIL VALUE OF PRE-NOTCHED BOWS
Some EBay sellers claim extremely high retail prices of pre-notched bows. You won't find such comparisons in our listings because we think that comparing prices of pre-notched bows and already fluffed bows is not right since buyers actually add value by doing fluffing themselves.
