In order to provide such a service, and to answer some questions we are regularly asked, we have listed below our terms and conditions of sale including methods of payment, P&P issues and our return policy. Please take the time to read this page as it may provide you with the answer you are looking for. All our stock placed on Ebay, or any other website we use, is on a first come first served basis whether you are shopping instore or online. With over 2000 lines there may be periods when we do have "out-of-stock" issues and we will work to resolve them as quickly as possible. It is our intention to dispatch your order within 48 working hours but when that is not possible we will advise you accordingly and provide an approximate date for dispatch.
Please feel free to contact us if you require more than the quantity stated - we may have it! Due to Ebay's fees and our High Street presence we do not put large quantites of one item onto this site. Even if we have not got the quantities you require we may still be able to source the amount you need - please email or telephone and we will do our best to help.
The photographs used in our listings are meant as a visual guide to the products on offer. We sometimes use our suppliers photographs and, therefore, would like to remind customers that they are copyrighted and cannot be copied without our prior permission. Please note that styles and colours may change from time to time, although we will do our best to update the photographs as soon as possible. If you are unsure about any photo please contact us.
Methods of Payment:
For all online sales we will accept the following:
PayPal: Payments can be sent via Paypal to email@example.com. If you are making a payment from outside the UK please make sure you send the amount of £ Sterling only. If this is not done we will refund the sale in order for it to be paid in Sterling. All international orders must be paid using Paypal.
Please request a combined invoice before paying with Paypal for multiple purchases as we may not be able to refund over paid postage once Paypal is completed.
If you pay separately by Paypal for your goods we reserve the right to pass on to you the extra fees charged to us by Paypal - any extra savings will be refunded (minus the extra fees) subject to Paypal allowing this.
Credit/Debit Cards: Please call 01248 724060 to pay using this method (Mon-Sat 10am-5pm). You will need to provide us with the registered address for your card if it differs from the delivery address.
Postal Order: Please make sure the Postal Order is uncrossed and made payable to "Gift Horse" or "Phil Cooper". We will not accept crossed postal orders unless a banking fee of £1 has been added to the amount due.
PLEASE NOTE: AS OF JANUARY 1st 2008 WE WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT ALL TYPES OF CHEQUES.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND A CHEQUE AS WE WILL HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO RETURN IT TO YOU.
All international sales must be paid for in £Sterling and via Paypal. We will not accept international money orders or cards from overseas. We will not give out bank details either.
Please pay for your item(s) within two days of purchase. If we do not receive payment within this time limit an automated email will be sent kindly requesting payment. If we do not receive your payment after four days we will automatically open a "Unpaid Item Dispute" with Ebay. If we still do not hear from you four days after opening an UPI we will close the issue so to receive a refund of sales fees from Ebay. At this point you will receive an unpaid item strike from Ebay. This can only be reversed by paying for the item (if not already sold to someone else) and you informing Ebay that you have paid.
Postage, Packing & Related Fees:
We will post our items to anywhere in the world providing the correct amount of postage has been paid. Where the listing does not state the cost of P&P for your country please email us for a quote.
We will do our utmost to combine your P&P fees for multiple orders where possible. However, please ensure you have requested a combined invoice when you have finished shopping to take advantage of reduced P&P rates as we may not be able to refund these savings once you have paid!
For UK buyers: We know that P&P fees are the worst part of any online transaction so we will always try to be fair when quoting a price. Please remember that our P&P fees include not only postage but also packaging costs and professional fees for administrating your sale, eg Ebay and Paypal fees. Therefore, in order to keep your P&P costs down please ask for a combined invoice as we may not be able to refund any P&P if you make separate sales to one address, especially with Paypal.
Where P&P is specified as being free, we will send your item by 2nd class post. However, if the item is returned as unwanted we reserve the right to refund your sale minus our original P&P costs incurred.
On the whole we will use Royal Mail to deliver your goods. Depending on the item, its weight and the amount of P&P paid will determine whether we use first or second class. If you need an item for a certain date please let us know and we will do our best to get it to you on time. Please note: we are not responsible for the delivery time of your package - we can purchase guaranteed delivery packages on your behalf subject to the appropiate fee.
For heavier items to the UK mainland(*) we will use a 48hr courier service. This is a great and inexpensive way to ensure your package arrives on time. We can currently offer this service up to 30kg for only £9.99 inc per package. Please ask if you require further details. (*)This service is available for most of the UK mainland and does not include the Scottish Highland & Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands. For these areas we will use Parcelforce which will be charged at the appropiate rate.
Lost Items in the Post:
We always get Proof of Posting from our local Crown Post Office.
UK only: In the unfortunate event your item(s) are not delivered please let us know within 15 working days of your dispatch email notification. In the first instance, check with your local Sorting Office (not Post Office) to see whether there is a package waiting for collection. Please note: Postmen do not always leave a calling card. If your item has not been delivered by the 15th working day after the expected delivery date then we can start a claim for lost mail and arrange either an immediate replacement or refund. Due to Royal Mail rules we cannot start a claim until after the 15th working day. We can provide you with an email copy of your Proof of Posting if you believe it will be helpful with dealing with your local Royal Mail Sorting Office.
If an item is returned to us we will charge a delivery fee to re-post the item to you. If the item is no longer required we will refund minus our original P&P costs.
This does not affect your Statutory Rights.
Europe: Same as above except we need to wait 20 working days before opening a claim.
Rest of the World: Same as above except we need to wait 25 working days before opening a claim
At Gift Horse we would like you to be happy with your purchase. If you are not satisfied with the item(s) you bought you may return it within seven days for a full refund (excluding our original P&P charge or costs incurred if free P&P was offered) providing the goods returned to us are in their original state and fit for re-sale.
Items that are to be personalised with your names and/or messages are custom made and excluded from the Distance Selling Regulations. These items cannot be returned or refunded. Please take care when providing personalisation details as we will copy and paste your instructions. We will only replace if we make a mistake. We keep all copies of requests for personalisation.
If your item is damaged in the post please inform us within three working days and please provide evidence for your claim, eg a photo of the package contents, as we will claim the damage from Royal Mail's/Courier's insurance company. Only return the good(s) if we request you to do so. UK only. International orders are placed at buyer's risk and we will only entertain claims for damages where the appropiate insurance has been acquired.
If your order is over £41 we recommend extra insurance of which the cost will be borne by you. Please ask for a quote.
Please ask for Proof of Posting when returning items as we will not be liable for items lost in the post.
After the initial seven days, we will consider taking the item back subject to an administration charge and the goods must be in their original state and fit for re-sale.
In all instances the buyer is responsible for return postage costs.
