4-Pack - We grow some plants as Plugs or in a 4-pack or even 8-pack, especially Annuals (and some perennials). These plants have a rootball of 3cm+, and are perfect for adding to borders or containers. A typical height from root base to shoot tip is 10cm (for most varieties).

2L and other sizes- Some plants are offered in larger pot-sizes such as 1 or 2 Litre Pots, the pot type can vary according to the 'crop', but it tends to be Shrubs and Young Trees which are offered in this size.
Bare-Root (Sleeping) Perennials - These plants are offered while dormant in a bare-root state. These plants have usually been grown in open ground, and are dug in the late winter, with all soil removed from roots. They are supplied without pots or compost, and require prompt planting. Bare-root plants are of 'flowering size', meaning that they are 1-2 years old or more, and capable of flowering the same year as planting given adequate care. An excellent value-for-money way to acquire larger perennials which are too big/heavy to ship while in full growth.
Our Container-Grown Plant Promise:
The plants you will receive from us will be well-established in their pots, and will vary from just a few centimeters in height (early Spring) to perhaps about 30-40cm later in the season (July onwards).
We supply plants which are established, but generally not in flower - thus we are able to supply them at a more reasonable price than a garden centre (which relies on impulse-purchasing).With our plants, you will generally get twice the number of plants for the same money (compared to a garden centre), and without the cost of fuel!
Flowering Plants
We try to grow some varieties which will flower the same season as purchase, but with many varieties this is not possible, (and it can depend on the propagation cycle).
A good example is the perennial Maximillian Sunflower (Helianthus maximillianii), which reaches a height and spread of 2-3 metres when in flower, but we usually supply in a 9cm Pot, and will typically flower the season after purchase. Carpathian Bellfower (Campanula carpatica) on the other hand, is hard to stop flowering, even when very small!
We feel that by buying younger (yet established) plants, our customers get the satisfaction of seeing their plants grow into magnificent specimens, without the hassle of growing-on tiny plug plants, or growing from seed.
To prevent damage and stress to plants during shipping, some plants have to be trimmed to about 30-40cm, however we also adopt a multi-cycle propagation regime, ensuring that the plants provided usually don't need trimmed, (and that they have not become root-bound).
Plant Packaging and Delivery
Our plants are packaged in mostly biodegradable or recyclable materials, and are usually sent by Royal Mail First Class (for smaller orders) and by Courier on larger orders. We have an excellent success rate for deliveries, and we enjoy an excellent reputation among our established customers, and a growing customer base - mostly by word-of-mouth recommendation.
We provide a guide to the height and spread in the plant descriptions - this indicates the eventual height of the plants once planted in your garden, and is not usually an indication of the present size of the plants. This can help with planning your beds and borders, and to avoid over-crowding your plants!
