Why Does My Märklin Locomotive Not Run?
Many times we see a Märklin Locomotive that has “Never Been Used” or used very little not run. In fact the driver wheels and motor just will NOT rotate!
What has happened is that the oil within the locomotive’s mechanism has oxidized and turned into hard grease. The fix is to disassemble the locomotive, clean out all of the old grease, and put fresh correct oil into all the correct locations of the mechanism.
Eckert Engineering offers this service for $25 labor plus parts. (Parts usually cost about $9.00 and include the normal “soft” parts such as slider, tires, and brushes.) For larger engines such as decapods (10 driver wheels) and for the older collectible locomotives such as the 800 series we charge slightly higher labor. Please contact us at eckertengineering@gmail.com with the specifics of your situation and we will try to help you!!!
