Timothy Eckert Andrew Eckert
Meet Eckert Engineering!
Timothy Eckert started playing with Marklin HO when he was 5 years old; his father's job with RCA sent him to Germany on a regular basis and he always came home with Marklin trains in his suitcase! One set of used Marklin passenger cars that his parents bought at a garage sale was a set of 351 cars, but the very rare version with the prohibited swastika on the sides. After 20 years of play, it was finally realized how collectible these were, and they were traded for a large lot of K track and signals and cash. Receiving the Marklin SIGNALS ended up being MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than the cash, as this opened up a whole new world of signals and automatic train control (ATC) for Tim. He has spent much time since then building signal controllers, and playing with the finer points of ATC! Eckert Engineering was created with Marklin, Signals, and Digital Power Supplies at the forefront. (Tim's day job as a Engineer in the nuclear commercial power industry helped give him the electrical engineering know-how necessary.)
But Tim Eckert has decided that it is time to start a slow turnover of Eckert Engineering to his youngest son, Andrew. Andrew has graduated High School and has enrolled in a local college; he has shown an interest in the Marklin Trains and in the business. So, each day we have the Apprentice learning from the Master yet another aspect of the wonderful world of Marklin Trains!!
