The tenth digit of your chassis number indicates your vehicles model year.

In our item descriptions we list the model years the part number is fitted to. So if the part is listed to fit 2001-04 then it will be for those corresponding models years.
Often VWG will change the marque of the car with a new model year but sometimes a model year will cover two different marques e.g. an Audi A4 2001 model year could either be an B5 (8D) model or B6 (8E) model.
VWG model years don’t run January to December so this can be slightly confusing. Model years typically start at the beginning of either March, April or May of the previous year! For example, many ’59 number plated cars will be ‘A’ model year which is 2010! It is important when searching for parts that you know the model year for your car. Your car may have be an ’04 number plate but it could in fact be a VWG ’05 or even ‘03 model year!
