Curtain Fabric
Full Blockout:
This is when the fabric has a coated backing which blocks out the sun, sometimes called Sunblock or 3 Pass. Provides excellent insulation keeps out the heat & keeps in the warm. It also prevents fabric from fading quickly. Good for bedrooms.
Partial Blockout:
This is when the fabric has a coated backing which has less backing thickness, sometimes called 1 pass. This still provides some insulation but to a lesser degree. The backing allows diffused light. In very sunny positions it is not a very effective insulator.
Uncoated:
This is when the fabric has no backing. A Lining can be added, either integral to the fabric & made as one unit or separately using a Lining tape & attaching with the hooks. This lining can be Full or Partial blockout or in a cotton like calico.
Lining protects the fabrics from fading and deteriorating.
Most curtain fabrics are 120cm - 150cm wide.
Curtain Hooks
Gather Hooks:
Small hooks used in pencil & gather tapes to hang curtains on tracks or Poles
2 Pronged Hooks:
Several sizes to use for different applications to hang curtains with sewn in pleats either double or triple (french) pleats
4 Pronged Hooks:
Used to pleat up tape with long pockets to form triple pinch pleats
Curtain Rings:
Use with pencil or gather tapes to hang curtains on rods.
If you have pinch pleat curtains & wish to hang them on a rod this can be done by using a size 73 - 2 pronged hook in the pleat and put a rings on the rod then insert the hook into the ring. This enables the curtain to open & close on the rod.
