It is likely that you've found this page because you want to make an informed decision when investing in an expensive garden set - we hope the following information helps.
We only sell furniture manufactured from A graded teak wood; we do not use B or C grade wood in any of our items and we never will. A grade teak wood is the highest quality available and it is the only grade that carries the very properties teak is famous for. Buying sets made even partially from sapwood (C graded wood) is not an investment; it is very likely that something will go wrong within as little as 18 months.
Respectable garden centres carry A-Grade teak. Go along and take a look at the soft, golden sheen, then go home and compare it to some of the pictures being used as advertising by some internet retailers. Sapwood is very easy to spot - just look at the picture below :-
You can quite clearly see the dull, lifeless finish, but even more obvious is the white blotches and streaks which cover the surface and emerge mid-grain (i.e half-way through a table-slat). This is a clear sign that sapwood has been used in the making of this piece of furniture. Sapwood does not posess the hard-wearing properties of teak; it will crack, warp and even rot as time goes by.

The difference is obvious: our picture demonstrates the beautiful, lustrous finish of natural, untreated grade A teak heartwood. This table will last for many years and will never warp or rot.

FSC Chain of Custody
We are very proud to announce that since July 2011, our supplier in Indonesia has achieved FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification status. This allows credible tracking of timber from the forest, through all successive stages of the production process.
It is very important to us that our products are ethically sourced, and we are proud that our suppliers are taking measures to guarantee this.
Guarantee
We are proud to offer a 3-year guarantee on all of our fixed construction solid teak garden furniture. Fixed construction is defined as items without folding mechanisms. All items with folding mechanisms are covered by our standard 12 month guarantee.
Our guarantee covers your furniture against manufacturing defects that render the product not fit for purpose within this period. Faulty items will be replaced and a small delivery charge may apply.
Our guarantee does not cover :
- Items used in commercial settings i.e bars, hotels
- Checking (small cracks in the end grain) is completely normal and not considered a fault. These small cracks may appear and disappear in different climate conditions and will not affect the strength or durability of your furniture.
- Accidental damage such as spillages or breakages due to neglect or misuse
