About Us

My name is Diane and I live in the welsh hills with my son and husband, I have two grown up daughters and three beautiful grandchildren. I was first interested in beads at the age of 5, my Nan used to have a little box in her dressing table with an old vintage broken string of brightly coloured Millefiori beads, so when she was distracted, I would creep up her stairs and hold them in my hands and I loved them, I would just feel them and stare at the beautiful colours, then I would hear her voice shout “ get down these stairs you little craftysod” I would throw them back it the box and leg it downstairs. Being a born & bred Yorkshire lass, Craftysod was a well used term which followed me through my life, it seemed an apt name for my Business. My Nan died some years ago and I never saw those amazing beads again and wish I had them now, but when my children were small I started my own costume jewellery making business which lasted about four years, things got tough and money was tight and time was not plentiful with two little girls to look after so my jewellery making days were put on the back boiler. Two years ago I picked up from where I left off and I have never looked back, I love every day of my life and have never been happier, I think it was Winston Churchill that said “if you find a job you like, you will never work again” this is so true. Getting back into it was easy as I had remembered everything I knew from years ago but when I toddled off to find old beaded necklaces from charity shops so that I could break them down and use the beads to make earrings, as I used to, I found that 99% of the items for sale were plastic and very rarely did I find glass beads which shocked me, will high street imported plastic beads and earrings ever be collectable? They certainly cant be re-used as they are quite often scratched and dirty. There are so many beautiful glass beads and they last forever. Once a necklace is broken, the beads can be re-used and appreciated time & time again. My mission is to use only glass beads where ever possible, and to try and flood the market with antiques of the future, I buy in from abroad a wide range of beads, many of them hand made. I buy in large quantities so that I can keep the price reasonable and competitive. I offer free postage from within the UK and accept returns if you are not 100% happy with your purchase. All Returns are broken down, findings discarded and beads are re-used. I can supply you with earrings for pieced ears or non pierced clip on. All my fittings are allergy free and contain no lead or nickel, and if you give me your address I can send you free sample fittings for you to try before you invest in earrings. I am working most days from early in the morning to late at night and am able to reply to e-mails within a couple of hours if not immediately. It has been known for me to make the odd mistake but I promise to always correct my mistakes with either replacements or refunds. I think customer service is of most importance and I treat my customers like I would like to be treated. I post out most of my items on the same day because when I buy something on line, I want it as quickly as possible as do most people. Internet shopping is growing so fast these days, it may be the only way to shop in the future as sad as that might be but I have started as I mean to go on providing good quality hand crafted products at competitive prices with top notch customer service.
