For fifteen years now the Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) has been the world's foremost cryptozoological resource. Since 1992 we have been running `The Crypto Shop` - our retail outlet. Whilst every effort is made to fill orders promptly, under exceptional circumstances it may take up to 28 days.

At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is the only professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. We have carried out expeditions to Sumatra (2003 and 2004), Mongolia (2005), Puerto Rico (1998 and 2004), Mexico (1998), Thailand (2000), Florida (1998), Nevada (1999 and 2003), Texas (2003 and 2004), and Illinois (2004).

We have also published an impressive range of books and magazines on cryptozoology and allied disciplines. These include over thirty issues of our journal Animals & Men (founded 1994), and eight annual CFZ Yearbooks.

Many people might be surprised to find that new species of animal are discovered every year. Most of them are relatively small and insignificant, but large animals still await discovery across the globe. The CFZ maintain files on dozens of unknown animals such as the tylacine or Tasmanian wolf (see opposite), a large carnivorous marsupial which officially became extinct in 1936, but is widely thought of as the unknown animal most likely to be discovered. Other well-known cryptids include the yeti of central Asia - a bipedal ape which may reach a height of seven feet, the `monsters` of Loch Ness and other lakes in North America and northern Europe, and Megalania prisca - a giant monitor lizard from Australia which is supposed to have become extinct thousands of years ago, but which many people believe still lurks in the outback.

The CFZ is a non-profit making organisation registered with the British Government. None of the directors take a wage from the CFZ, and all monies raised go towards our ongoing programme of research. Recently we were put in the position of being able to acquire a beautiful historic house in rural Devonshire where we intend to open a full-time museum and visitor's centre which will be open to the general public as well as out 450-odd members from across the globe. We are also involved in conservation and animal welfare and are presently in the proces of setting up nature reserves with the long-term prospect of reintroducing someof the creatures which have become extinct in our part of rural Devonshire over the last century or so. Our only funding comes from Membership fees, sales of books, magazines and merchandise, and from our annual conference which is held in Devonshire every August. Please support us in our endeavours.
