About Channels
|
| When you see the word channel, think of a single video feed. Single channel DVRs are equipped to record a single video feed, or one video out feed from a monitor. On monitors with quad displays, where the cameras connect directly to the monitor, a DVR will record what is viewed on screen. If your monitor is set to view one image, the DVRs recording will reflect that. If the monitor is set to view all 4 images at once (called quad display), the DVR will still record the entire screen as one big image. Playback is restricted to what was recorded from the monitor. If you want to record 4 camera feeds individually, for more flexible playback options, you would need to connect the cameras directly to a 4 channel DVR (one channel per camera). The video is sent to the monitor for display via a video out connection. This way, when viewing recorded data, you have the flexibility to view a single camera in full screen mode. | |
