How to Buy Flatware from Multi-Variation Listings
A multi-variation listing looks different from most listings for flatware. What kind of listing is this?
A multi-variation listing is one multi-quantity, fixed price listing with all the variations offered. You may be more familiar with seeing this type of listing with clothing where different sizes and colors are offered. The listing type is the same. In this case, it is a listing for all the different types of pieces available in the same silverware or flatware pattern. The variation is for the pattern piece selected.
The advantages to you are that you can select different types of pieces to add to your flatware collection from one listing and select the quantity you want of each (instead of having to search through multiple listings to find the pieces you want). You also take advantage of one flat rate shipping price for all pieces selected. For example, shipping is the same for 30 pieces as it is for one. That adds up to quite a savings!
Each item is priced individually. You can select as few or as many items as are available from one listing with one flat rate shipping price for all.
Here is how it works:
1. To the right of the gallery picture you will see a box labeled “Type” or “Piece Type” with a drop-down button. Most likely the box will have the word “Select” in it (assuming there are multiple piece types still available in the listing that haven’t yet sold). When you click the down arrow at the right hand end of the box, you can see the options available. You can then select any one of the available items you want. For example, you may select a dinner fork.
2. When you select an item, the name for that item appears in the box for “Type” or “Piece Type” and the number of items available appears to the right of the “Quantity” box. For example, there may be 4 dinner forks available, but you only want 3. You then enter 3 in the “Quantity” box (just as you would for any multi-quantity listing) and click the “Buy It Now” box. You will also notice that the gallery picture changes to the item you have selected. It also shows the front and back of the item selected as long as there were two items to photograph.
3. After you have decided to purchase a particular item, you have the option of returning to the listing to select additional items or checking out. Let’s assume that you also want to add salad forks and soup spoons to your order. To purchase additional items, you return to the listing and select the quantity you want from what is available for each item (just as you did with the first) until you have selected all the items you want to purchase of this particular pattern.
4. You may continue to shop other silverware patterns or check out. When you proceed to checkout your shipping should show one flat rate for all flatware items purchased.
