Stone Shower Tray Fitting Instructions
IMPORTANT:
Stone resin shower trays MUST be entirely supported on a strong base and laid upon a screed of smooth sand and cement. Please ensure that no area beneath the tray is unsupported. If not, the tray is liable to crack through impact or prolonged use.
Fitting onto WOODEN FLOORS:
Cover floor boards with a sheet of marine ply (18mm or thicker) cut to the exact size of shower tray, and cut a hole just large enough to fit waste and backing nut.
Note: Hole should be no more than 10mm larger than backing nut to prevent cracking around the waste area (do not over-tighten waste when fitting).
Bond or screw ply sheet to floor boards and cover with a 10 – 20mm screed of 5:1 sand, cement mix and anti crumbling agent such as ‘Feb’ mix.
Lay the tray onto the cement bed and level from the top edges with a spirit level. Ensure that the base of the tray is entirely bedded into the cement. Do NOT leave any part of the underside of the tray unsupported by cement or the tray will crack in time.
Fitting onto CONCRETE FLOORS:
Option 1: Fitting tray with waste trap below ground -
Channel floor to accommodate waste, screed with sand and cement and level from top edge as above.
Option 2: Fitting tray off the floor to allow access to the waste trap -
A - Self-build a wooden plinth to allow access to the waste. This should be constructed with 4’’x 2’’ timber with no more than 6’’ centers. Cover the plinth with 18mm or thicker marine ply and fit as per ‘wooden floors’ instructions.
B - Alternatively, simply purchase a TrayMate Fitting Kit which has everything required in the kit: pre-cut wooden plinth, steel legs, sand & cement mix, acrylic panels and tiling upstand kit included.
General:
Handle with care, stone resin shower trays are very fragile. Please note that the fitting of the shower tray will be taken as acceptance of quality and colour match.
Unfortunately, no claims for imperfection can be accepted after fitting.
It is essential that your shower tray is fitted in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Failure to install and maintain the product as per instructions will invalidate the guarantee.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Clean regularly with a damp cloth or sponge followed by a soft dry cloth.
Occasionally use a non-abrasive cleaner to remove stubborn stains and buff with car polish annually to give a perfect finish. Do not use stiff brishes or abrasive cleaners as these will damage the surface of the tray.
Small chips and marks can be repaired with our shower repair kit.
In hard water areas, limescale will mark the surface of the tray. To prevent this, use a good quality water softener.
The use of rubber mats may cause a reaction to the surface of the tray and is therefore not recommended.
Some hair dyes and colourants may mark the surface of the tray if not fully washed away.
Steam Generators:
Stone resin shower trays can accommodate steam generators but please note that the steam must not be aimed directly on to the surface of the shower tray.
Position the head at least 40cm from the surface of the shower tray and ensure that the manufacturers recommended steam dispersal unit is fitted to the steam head. |
