Blades are available with special tooth rakes and tooth geometry that make them suitable for particular types of machines such as Mitre Saws or Radial Arm Saws.
Blade Rake
A positive rake blade is advisable when the work piece is taken to the saw blade. A negative rake blade is advisable when the blade is taken to the work piece.
Tooth Geometry
Blades can have different types of tooth geometry, Alternate top bevel for general cutting applications and triple chip geometry which is used for blades cutting laminated wood or Aluminium.
Nail cutting blades are suitable for cutting wood containing the occasional nail.
For safety purposes, a 'Zero Degree' blade should be used to avoid kickback when cutting timber by means of lowering the blade onto the workpiece.
A special blade with triple angle ground teeth and negative rake for use with Mitre Saws and Radial Arm Saws when cutting laminates and Aluminium is available.
A general purpose blade is available which is designed to minimize kickback and over-feeding. Suitable for universal use with static or hand-held power saws. |
