Helpful Information
Cello Bags
The word cello is derived from cellophane but nowadays bags for greetings cards are never made in cellophane. Most bags for individual cards are made from OPP (Oriented Polypropylene), this material has excellent clarity and gloss, and is ideally suited to the packing of greetings cards.
Bag Size
Most cards are packed with the envelope tucked inside the card. If packed this way the bag width will need to be about 5mm bigger than the envelope. The bag length should be the same as the envelope. E.g.
For an envelope 133 x 185mm
Bag Size would be 138 x 185mm
By convention bags are specified width x length, i.e. the width first.
Bag Thickness
Generally bags come in 3 grades
25micron – Cheap and cheerful
30micron – Good quality finish, acceptable in most circumstances
40micron – High quality finish, ideal for art cards and handmade cards
