8 Automobiles
On September 15, 1951, New York's Museum of Modern Art unveiled an exhibit that recognized the automobile as an art form. "8 Automobiles" presented these vehicles as "rolling sculpture."
The vehicles selected included the 1930 Mercedes- Benz SS tourer, the 1949 Cisitalia Berlinetta Granturismo, the 1939 Bentley saloon with coachwork by James Young, the 1939 Talbot-Lago Figoni teardrop coupé, the 1951 Willys Jeep, the 1937 Cord 812 Custom Beverly, the 1948 MG TC, and the 1941 Lincoln Continental coupe.
The following photos are from the rare 28 page catalog created by Leo Lionni for the event.
