| | | My grandmother said, "If you are going to spend your hard earned money on beautiful things...for heavens sakes use them!"
I guess that is my motto...use what you have. What is the point of buying lots of great things only to store them away for safe keeping? If I buy a beautiful vase or plate, I use it. You can't take it with you, so why not? Yes, you can be careful with items, but if you enjoy them-use them!
| | Glass items:
1) Valuable Glass should be handwashed. Often the citrus-smell we love and think is so "clean" is so harmful on our precious glass (the gold and silver on china as well). It is always best to handwash items. If you must put items in the dishwasher, look for low-phosphate (under 1.7%) dishwashing products.
2) Lime Build-up on Glasswear? Try products that you would normally use on lime build-up in your shower. May I suggest diluting with water the first round.
| | | Musty Smells?
1) Seal your item inside a large ziplock bag with Kitty Litter. The litter will absorb bad smells. Check every day or so.
2) Newspaper is another item that is supposed to absorb smells. Crumple up some old news and seal it in a bag or put it inside a cupboard and let it do your dirty work!
Sticky Tags on Items?
1) Heat tag with a hairdryer, then loosen with a knife.
2) Goo Gone is an amazing product and safe to use on many items.
