  • Shipping Large Items by Truck

Items too large or heavy for UPS or the Post Office may be

  • picked up in Orange MA 01364
  • or shipped by motor freight

You will pay the trucking company the actual shipping costs on delivery. This is called "freight collect"

Contact www.freightquote.com and they will get you quote from competing common freight carriers.  Their number is 888.595.5664

Here are some things you will need to know for them to rate and quote the shipment:

  • Use your phone number and address as the "shipper".
  • The goods are at 57 S Main St, Orange, MA  01364 at a commercial building with a loading dock where the driver will not have to come inside.
  • Best to find a local freight terminal to ship to so you get the commercial and not residential rate.  By all means avoid a liftgate.
  • I don't recommend insurance. They've never lost a thing. Your call and you can get a price quote for it.  Look at the coverage too.
  • Your guess is as good as mine for weight.
  • If your item can go on a std pallet I'll provide one free.
  • Depending on the item, you can pay my carpenter to build a crate.  This has the advantage of being stackable.  At least in theory. Will cost $50 or more to build a crate depending on size.  The free pallet is likely best option.
